Paul is Owner of Paul Horton Golf, and is Co-Lead Coach at the Golf Channel Academy at Heritage Pointe (Heritage Pointe Golf Club) in the Calgary suburb of Heritage Pointe, Alberta, Canada. The PGA of Canada’s 2011 National Teacher of the Year and 2017 National Coach of the Year, Paul is widely considered one of the top coaches in Canada. A 14-time PGA of Alberta Teacher of the Year finalist, he was named Teacher of the Year twice (2003 & 2011) and Coach of the Year twice (2016 & 2017). He is also a member of the PGA of Alberta’s Education Committee.
The highest-ranking AimPoint Certified Instructor in all of Canada, Paul has also been one of the busiest. For over 40 years he’s been teaching and coaching many thousands of players, from beginners to top amateurs and collegiate players to PGA Tour professionals. Over recent years, Paul has coached 45 junior players to college scholarships and 21 of those have gone on and turned professional.
Current and former students who’ve worked with Horton include former PGA Tour winners Stephen Ames and Steven Bowditch, PGA Tour Champions winner Gary Hallberg, 8-time Canadian Long Drive champion Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk and 6-time World Long Drive champion Jason Zuback. In addition to his AimPoint expertise, he also holds certifications with BioSwing Dynamics, Blast Motion and TPI (Golf Coach Level 2), and is a member of the Certified Golf Coaches Association.
Paul coaches players in all aspects of the game, from tactical and playing strategies to the mental game, fitness and nutrition. His programs are consistent, specific and focused to each student, and he enjoys working with players of any skill level who show a commitment to improving their game.
