Jonathan Hundley, a native of Danville, Virginia, started swinging a golf club at the age of five, fell in love with the game and always knew that he wanted a career in golf! A strong leader who sets high standards by his own example, Jon has achieved success at each level of his career as a direct result of his passion for the game and his dedication to his club members, guests and team.
It’s no coincidence that Jon has left his mark at each club he has been affiliated with, most recently as a Golf Coach at the Junior Players Golf Academy since 2017. Prior to that Jon served as the highly regarded Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at Oldfield Club from 2001 to 2017. Working diligently in his pivotal role as a Golf Instructor at the Golf Academy of Hilton Head at Sea Pines through 2001, Jon coached some of the best junior golfers in the world, including nationally-ranked collegiate amateurs. Earlier in his career, Jon was named the First Assistant Golf Professional at Wexford, and worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Port Royal Plantation.
Jon’s professional affiliations include: PGA Class A Member, PGA Life Member, and Carolinas PGA Membership, Certified Club Fitter for Callaway, Cobra, Ping, Titleist, and Wilson; Golf Instructor at Advantage Golf and National Golf Schools. Course Instructor at the Professional Golfers Career College (The Rules of Golf, The History of Golf).
Professional accomplishments include: Golf instructor for the top-10 rated Golf Academy of Hilton Head at Sea Pines, and nominated for PGA Carolinas Section Assistant Golf Professional of the Year Award. Recognized for achieving numerous top-10 tournament finishes in the PGA Carolina’s Section. Applied for a United States Patent for a golf bag design that he created with retractable wheels.
Jon is proud to have been awarded the esteemed Bluffton, South Carolina Fire District Citizen Heroism Award and the South Carolina Highway Patrol Hero Award for rescuing an unconscious man from a submerged vehicle, performing CPR, thus enabling his full recovery. In addition, Jon secured three U.S. Open Qualifiers at Oldfield Club, and was responsible for Oldfield’s recognition as the Golf Course of the Year by the South Carolina Golf Association in 2016.
