Inspired by his mother and father, Gord Burns first started swinging a golf club at the age of 3. Gord started competing in golf tournaments at the age of 11 and has never looked back. Gord won the GAO Bantam Championship at the age of 12, the GAO Juvenile Championship at the age of 14, and the GAO Junior Championship at the age of 16. He travelled across the US and had much success against his American counterparts earning himself a spot as a Rolex  AJGA junior All-American with the likes of Tiger Woods, Justin Leonard, and Stewart Cink in 1990. His record as a junior enabled him to attain a golf scholarship to NCAA division 1 Miami University. There, he studied Sport Organization which involved a variety of courses such as the psychology of sport, children and youth in sport, motor skill learning and development, etc. These courses gave Gord a broad range of knowledge and a better understanding of how to properly teach people of varying ages and skill levels. Gord was on the travelling team at the university where they won the MAC conference championship in his freshman year. Gord turned professional in 1997 and earned his Canadian Tour Card in 1999. He was a member of this tour for 5 years until 2003. Gord was able to play alongside some of the current PGA Tour pros during his time on this tour. Such stars as Jason Bohn, Ken Duke, Aaron Oberholser, Nathan Green, Pat Perez, Ken Staton, and Matt Kuchar to name a few. Gord still remains active on the PGA of Ontario and PGA of Canada tournament scene and was honoured through his fine play in 2019 by winning the PGA of Ontario Player of the Year while posting a 68.9 scoring average. He also managed his first National title in 2019 winning the PGA of Canada National Club Professional Championship with a tournament record-setting score of 21 under par for 3 rounds, with a course record opening round of  62 (-10). Gord is currently ranked #5 as of the end of 2019 in the PGA of Canada Player Rankings.  During his professional career, he has been able to learn exponentially from some of the world’s best players and instructors. Gord brings to you many years of playing and teaching experience that will ultimately improve your game regardless of your skill level. He specializes in the development of junior tournament players looking to attain the highest levels of golf competition with an interim goal of achieving a golf scholarship. He teaches players who have won professional golf tournaments as well as those who have never touched a club. Gord employs a wide range of teaching techniques dependant on one’s particular needs. His belief is that there are specific positions that need to meet with the golf club as well as specific body movements that are important to achieve those key positions for consistent results. Identifying each student’s particular needs is a strength that Gord has learned over the past 15 years of coaching with more than 25,000 hours of experience. In working with Gord and practicing the drills and exercises given to you, along with the proper use of the trackman data, you will ultimately improve your game.
