“This course lets golfers enjoy the vistas and valleys of the Texas Hills Country. On the back side, holes are carved along streams and creeks to deepen the peace and natural beauty of the land.” – Don January and Billy Martindale
Built in the hills of Northwest Austin in 1973, PGA legend Don January and architect Billy Martindale designed Great Hills Country Club to be challenging, scenic and fun. The front nine is open, winding along ridges that offer breath-taking vistas, but challenging you with winds that make many of the holes play differently depending on the conditions. The back nine is where the fun really starts at Great Hills CC – a place where a wayward shot or painfully poor iron can humble your round. There are four par fives and five par threes to challenge you. The signature 17th is a beautiful little par three with white sand bunkers. The 18th is a sporty par five that should be played at least once in the late afternoon when long shadows stretch deep over the fairway. The course requires power, precision and most of all your attention, lest you become mesmerized by the natural surroundings, beauty and wildlife.
