Since 1995, when eager volunteers helped build it, the Valemount Pines Golf & Country Club has received rave reviews from visiting golfers. This Gordon McKay-designed course is built in a forested area in the valley of three mountain ranges and there is pristine scenery at every hole. The surrounding mountains and man-made lakes add some aesthetic pleasure to this course. This nine-hole course, west of Jasper National Park, is an easy place to play for beginners, but it can be a task for those with low handicaps. Probably one of the most challenging holes is the second, where golfers have to hit the ball accurately onto the green without going too far to the right on this par three. A water trap and a bunker crowd the right corners of this beautiful green.
