The Maywood Course will challenge any golfer. It is currently ranked the fourth most difficult course in the Louisville area by Business First Magazine. Maywood measures more than 7,200 yards from the championship tees. This Bardstown golf course has five sets of tees, so both seasoned and rookie golfers can enjoy their round.
The Maywood Course first opened in 1995, when it was voted one of the best new golf courses by Golf Digest Magazine. The layout was originally designed by renowned golf architect David Pfaff of Carmel, California.
After Chris Osborne and his family took over ownership of Bardstown Country Club in 2003, they immediately began an extensive program of renovations for both the course and clubhouse. Spencer Holt, a protégé of designer Arthur Hills, was hired to make improvements on the course. Some of Holt’s most recognized work took place on Half Moon Bay and The Cardinal Club.Using Holt’s direction and the Osborne family golf knowledge, bunkers, tee boxes and a few greens were redesigned while many holes were lengthened.
With five sets of tees available, Maywood golf course expects to be an exciting test of golf for every level of golfer. The course can be played from 4600 yards all the way back to over 7200 yards for the championship caliber player. Players will find the course offers an appealing blend of traditional golf with the features of a links style design.
The course has matured and continues to be the host of many PGA section events and state amateur championships. The combination of a great test of golf along with the friendly Bardstown Country Club staff will be sure to make a lasting impression on every player who visits Maywood.

Zach Graves is the PGA Head Golf Professional at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood. Zach is a Class A PGA Member and has been since 2015. Zach has 8 years of experience teaching golf and was the 2018 Assistant Golf Professional of the year for the Kentucky Section. He is a Callaway Staff Member, an ADM Certified Instructor, Get Golf Ready Instructor, and is on the Kentucky Section PGA’s Education and Marketing Committees. Zach’s philosophy on teaching is based on the individual and uses skill development to improve every aspect of the game. He helps each student to learn and grow through teaching them about the club/ball relationship as well as an understanding of the how the club path and face influence ball flight.
