The Templeton family, along with other investors, bought and opened Creeks Bend Golf Club in 1968. Through the years, the family purchased more ownership of the golf club and in 1975 became sole owners/operators of the course. Today Ira “Buddy” Templeton III manages all aspects of the course. Buddy’s son-in-law, Patrick Shutters, became Course Superintendent in 2003. Kim, Buddy’s wife, joined the staff as Office Manager/Bookkeeper in 2009.
In 1978, Creeks Bend Golf Club welcomed Golf Professional Mike Nelms as Head Pro.
Over the years, Creeks Bend Golf Club has hosted a variety of tournaments. Beginning in the early 1970’s, Creek’s Bend hosted the first annual Coca-Cola Pro Am Tournament. Creeks Bend is proud to say the Coca-Cola is still going strong every year with a full slate of participants. Every year, the course also hosts a Junior Golf Camp and Tournament for kids ages 6 to 17 in the summer. This event is run exclusively by our Golf Pro Mike Nelms. Junior Golfers are treated to a week of group and personal instruction given by Mike that culminates in a fun tournament giving the junior golfers a chance to show off their newly honed golf skills. And of course, Creeks Bend annually hosts its Member-Member-Guest Tournament. A great time is had by all who sign up for this event as they compete for prizes including the coveted Club Champion title.
