Calamus Area Golf Club is a member designed and built layout.
It lies one mile below the Calamus Reservoir dam on lowland farm ground. The west side of the course is level and straight forward. The east side has natural swales and dips.
The rough is native vegetation, creating difficulty for those choosing the foul-way en route to the green. A nursery of 600 trees on sight has been tapped for distribution between fairways.
Two ponds serve as formidable hazards. The most testing hole is the short par 3, 3rd. It plays uphill to an elevated green guarded in front by a stream, with a county road on the left and a graveyard behind.
