Third Place Coffee House

Food
Brewed coffee, espresso, and fresh, local ingredients. We strive to provide an environment where a "mix of blue-collar, white-collar, priest-collar and dog-collar" customers can meet-up, socialize, and enjoy an excellent cup of coffee together. We also provide a place for local artists and artisans to display and sell their work. (quote is from "The Third Place, a coffeehouse- A Great Good Place" by Steve Goldsmith, Indy Week, 6/21/2000. This article was written when we received one of the Indies Arts Awards in 2000)Established in 1994.The Third Place was opened for business on November 11, 1994 by Rich Futrell and Ty Beddingfield. David Benson, the current owner, purchased the coffee shop in 2004.In addition to running the Third Place Coffee Shop, David is also the sculptor who created the copper Acorn that resides in Moore's Square in downtown Raleigh. You can find him at the Third Place most days- causing trouble and amusing his beloved patrons.
