David Benson, the current owner, purchased the coffee shop in 2004.In addition to running the Third Place Coffee Shop, David is also the sculptor who created the copper Acorn that resides in Moore's Square in downtown Raleigh. You can find him at the Third Place most days- causing trouble and amusing his beloved patrons.
