Country Club of Birmingham

Not valid with any other offer!

From big weekend club championships to wee new players swinging plastic clubs at bright foam balls, the Country Club of Birmingham just is golf. Consisting of 36 holes, The West Course, a result of the blended talents of Donald Ross, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Pete Dye, provides historic, inspiring holes. It has hosted many state, regional, and national events. The East remains closer to its Donald Ross roots. While more benign in its look, will challenge competitors to beat, or even meet, their scores on the West.

East Course

“The East Course represents the second half of the original CCB handiwork by legendary golf course architect Donald Ross. Laid out when the club planned its move from the Lakeview area of the city, it retains much of its original routing. Since opening in 1926, the East has stood the test of time, as over the years changes have been made only to allow expansion of the practice range and general improvements in playability.” -The U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship 2013

West Course

Originally laid out in the mid-1920s by the notable and prolific Scotsman Donald Ross, the West Course led its sister East by a year, opening in 1925. Significant renovations came about both in 1959-60 and the mid-1980s. As the game and the club evolved, so has the West. today’s course blends the talents of three World Golf Hall of Fame architects: Ross, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and Pete Dye. Notably, Dye believes it’s the one course in existence to be crafted by this trio of golf course architects elected to the Hall. Long a competitive venue for everything from weekend dogfight matches to USGA qualifiers, with a special record of Alabama and Southern Amateur Championships, the West made a fitting host for the 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship and the 2016 Men’s State Team Championship.
