El Niguel is an 18-Hole championship quality golf course which has recently undergone a complete renovation by widely acclaimed golf course architect, Todd Eckinrode. With a variety of tee boxes stretching all the way to 7208 yards and shortening to 5003 yards, it as enjoyable for scratch golfers as it is for mid to high handicappers. Always known for having some of the best greens in Orange County, El Niguel is now as visually stunning as it is playable.
Men’s Golf
There are numerous handicap appropriate groups with which to join and the golf shop is always available to find a game for new members. Each year there are four major tournaments: The Tradition, The Founders, The Niguel and the Member-Member. In addition, Men’s Guest days are held four times a year, and there are numerous seasonal tournaments. El Niguel also participates in Men’s Thursday, Saturday and Silver Senior Team Play with other local clubs.
Women’s Golf
The El Niguel Women’s Golf Association always welcomes new members. Full membership in the ENWGA offers many privileges and fun events, as well as handicap maintenance, attendance at all luncheons, Tuesday tournaments, and guest days. For beginners, the Nifty Niners offers weekly golf clinics followed by 9-holes and then lunch. Annually, there are eight major tournaments. There are over thirty additional Tuesday tournaments as well as our two-day Sea Country Classic member-guest tournament. Guest Days are on the third Thursdays of selected months.
Couples Golf
There are numerous seasonal tournaments for couples including a Couples’ Club Championship. Wine & Nine events and Twilight Golf events held on selected Thursday and Friday nights in the summer, are also very popular couples’ events. Couples’ Sunday Sweeps are held every week.
Junior Golf
In 2010, the Club established a Junior Golf Development Program as well as a Junior Certification Program, both of which are led by our PGA-certified Director of Instruction. These programs are aimed at increasing the opportunity for junior golfers to better their game while also making sure that they have a complete understanding of the rules and etiquette of both the game and the Club. Both of these programs have thrived and the participation of junior golfers at the Club is at an all-time high. Our junior golfers also participate in local team play events with other local clubs through the SCGA.
Golf Fitness
In 2011, El Niguel added a golf fitness facility. We partnered with a certified Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness Instructor, and the golf fitness program has been very well received by the membership. After an initial comprehensive evaluation, a workout program is designed for the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. The wide range of flexibility and stretching programs are beneficial for the golf swing.
