Coming from a hard working Polish immigrant family, Fred Snizek had a dream to one day own and operate his own golf course. Leaving the security of his General Electric job in Utica, and recruiting the help of his loving wife Janet, the two set out with their five young boys, to embark on a quest to build a nine-hole golf course from a farmland in Vernon, NY.
The reigns of leadership were passed on to John Snizek, their son, in the 1990’s. During his time, he successfully built upon serving the community and honoring his mom (a two-time breast cancer survivor) by establishing “The Golfing for Breast Cancer” charity. In ten years, the charity raised over $100,000 for the Faxton-St. Lukes Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center. John’s caring and giving nature epitomized the philosophy of giving back to his community and patrons at the golf course.
